The business was conceived and created by Mark Hilder in the early 80's, while working in the Cooper Basin in the far north of South Australia. Mark was employed as a mechanic in the Moomba workshops servicing a wide range of oil and gas production plant. Mark saw a way to produce and improve the design of a specialized servicing unit that was being imported by the company.

This was a major piece of machinery that was costing the company greatly through imports from the USA. With foresite and innovation Mark was able to fully produce some of the first Australian Wireline units.

Proving it's viability for ongoing production, Mark moved his operations to Hawker in the Flinders Ranges region of South Australia. The location perfectly suited to the link between Adelaide and the Cooper Basin.

Due to the proximity to the Agricultural sector it soon became apparent there was a market for the production of specialized equipment for farmers within the region. Equipment for stock watering applications and repairs, which was at times hard to source or impossible to supply from other manufacturers prompted Mark to expand his operations into the rural sector.

Hildabuilt has earned a reputation over the years for innovation and the development of high quality products. Hildabuilt's philosophy focuses on creating quality, durability and efficiency in production, machinery and services.

Other industries have utilized Hildabuilt's services over the years, including the heavy transport industry servicing the northern regions of South Australia and outback sectors of Australia, and the tourism sector which is the second largest industry in the area and continually expanding.
